Welcome to Lund, a charming Swedish city that effortlessly combines history, culture, and a vibrant contemporary vibe. Nestled in the heart of Skåne County, Lund is a destination that will make you want to be in nature and immerse in the Swedish way of life. We only had a few short hours, so this is what we did!
Contents of Things to do in Lund:
1. Streets of Kulturkvadranten
As you stroll through these streets, you'll find yourself surrounded by well-preserved medieval buildings, each whispering stories of bygone eras. These cobbled lanes have witnessed centuries of life, from the bustling medieval marketplace to the intellectual hub of today's Lund University. These streets was the start of our day in Lund and we visited around lunch time. W saw University students make their way across campus and so many bikes stacked up along the picturesque lanes.
2. Botanical Gardens (Botaniska Trädgården)
Botaniska Trädgården, is a serene haven for nature enthusiasts and wanderers alike. As you step into this lush oasis, you'll be greeted by a vibrant floral of botanical wonders from all corners of the globe. They literally have a little sign, detailing the botanic name of the plant and its origin. Wander through meticulously curated gardens, each with its own unique charm – from the enchanting Dahlia garden to the exotic greenhouses teeming with tropical treasures and cacti too (our favourite room).
This garden entertained us for about 30 mins as we skimmed past the various rooms and plant - but if you're plant enthusiast, you could spend hours there! The best part is, the entry is absolutely free!
3. Saluhallen
A food hall that welcomes travellers and locals alike to savour a symphony of flavours. With a rich history dating back to 1902, Saluhallen offers a delightful gastronomic journey, where you can explore a diverse selection of fresh, locally sourced produce, artisanal cheeses, and an array of international delicacies. Whether you're in search of Swedish classics or exotic spices, the market's stalls brim with options for lunch.
It's a hub for foodies and a perfect spot to mingle with friendly vendors who share their culinary expertise. We purchased some cheese from Osthuset: gouda and camembert (131 SEK), as recommended by the very friendly vendor. We also got some pastry and sweets (122 SEK) for home, from Gauteau, after trying some samples, we were sucked in!

Outside the hall there was a kebab food truck called Kebabvagnen (translates to Kebab Cart), which we actually purchased before entering the food hall and was eating the kebab as we walked around. It was probably the best kebab we had eaten since leaving home - and thats huge as we had just been in Turkey and Lebanon - the flavour and freshness of the kebab plus the addition of pickles, hit the nail on the head, it was also quite affordable being 75 SEK. Highly recommend!

A bakery that captures the essence of traditional Scandinavian baking. As you step through the door, you're enveloped by the inviting aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries of cinnamon and cardamom. Broder Jakob’s is a family-owned bakery focusing on delicious and freshly baked goods. Located in the heart of Lund and minutes from the central station, the bakery offers a cozy environment to have a Swedish fika or just to catch up with friends. The is also a variety of hot/cold drinks and sandwiches.
We had a much needed latte to pick us up for the drive home. Base on an image we saw on their google reviews we wanted to try a pastry that looked like a sweet burger with cream in the middle, but was told that its a seasonal dish and is only available during the colder months, So instead we opted for something else - Vy had Kokostopp: This little pyramid of joy is a coconut cone. Raif had a Köpenhamnare: puff pastry base that is pre-baked and then filled with a buttery almond batter. The pastry is also filled with vanilla cream and topped with planed and toasted almonds. - Can confirm it was delicious! (Pastry Images are from Broder Jakobs)

We didn't have much time, so this is what we did to make the most out of our couple of hours, but if you have more time definitely visit the museum and walk the grounds of Lund University.
